    sachin Tendulkar was born April 24, 1973 in Bombay, India. Given his first cricket bat at the age 11, Tendulkar was just 16 when he became India's youngest Test cricketer. In 2005 he became the first cricketer to score 35 centuries (100 runs in a single inning) in Test play. In 2007 Tendulkar reached another major milestone, becoming the first player to record 15,000 runs in one-day international play.


Tendulkar made his debut in international competition at 16 with a match against Pakistan in Karachi. He wasted little time matching the expectations surrounding his arrival on the professional field. At the age of 18 he scored a pair of centuries in Australia, then in 1994 racked up a score of 179 in a match against the West Indies.
Tendulkar was just 23 when he was named captain of his country's team for the 1996 World Cup. While the tournament proved to be a disappointment for his club, Tendulkar did nothing to diminish his own standing as one of the world's dominant players. He finished out the World Cup as the event's top scorer.
Sachin Tendulkar made his One Day International (ODI) debut on December 18, 1989 against Pakistan and has played 417 ODIs. He has performed well in almost all Cricket World Cups and was the highest run scorer at the 1996 and the 2003 Cricket World Cup. In ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring more than 1000 runs in a calendar year for seven times, that includes a year in which he scored 1894 runs from ODIs, which is the record for the highest number of runs scored by any player. In the One-Day International Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series involving Sri Lanka and Australia, he became the first and only batsman to complete 16,000 runs in ODIs. As of 2008, Sachin Tendulkar has made 16,361 runs from the ODI matches making him the most prolific run scorer in the ODIs.

In 1996, Sachin Tendulkar took over as the captain of the Indian cricket team and served as a captain for two terms. He gives constant suggestions and building strategies to the Indian captain and still remains a fundamental part of the Indian team. Sachin Tendulkar is ranked by the objective scoring method of the Wisden 100 as the second best test batsman and best ODI batsman of all time and also holds the record of securing the highest number of centuries in Test (39) and ODI cricket (42). He is also one of the few players who are still playing international cricket from the 1980s.

Sachin Tendulkar was bought as the icon and most expensive player for the Mumbai Indians team at the 2008 Indian Premier League (IPL) for US$1,121,250. He was the captain of the Mumbai Indians team and featured in seven matches, scoring 188 runs, his highest being 65.

In recognition to his contribution to the field of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar was conferred with the Arjuna Award, by the Government of India in 1994. He was named as the 1997 Wisden Cricketer of the Year and was also the recipient of the 1997-98 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest honour given for achievement in sports. In 1999, Sachin Tendulkar was awarded with Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award and was named as the Player of the tournament at the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He was also named in the ICC World ODI XI for two years, 2004 and 2007 and in September 2007 Sachin Tendulkar secured the first place in the list of 50 greatest cricketers by Shane Warne, a former international Australian cricketer. In 2008, he was presented with Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award and was suggested for an honorary knighthood by Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister.

         Kumar Sangakkara is a Sri Lankan cricketer who was born on October 27, 1977 in Matale. This left-handed batsman-cum-wicket-keeper is nicknamed “Sanga” in the cricket world. He idolizes the Australian cricketer, Adam Gilchrist, known for his batting and wicket-keeping skills. Considered as the best South-Asian wicket-keeper batsman, his multilingual talent has made him the unofficial spokesman of the Sri Lankan cricket team. Kumar Sangakkara attended the Trinity College in Kandy and is married to Yehali.

Kumar Sangakkara made his Test debut for Sri Lanka on July 20, 2000 versus South Africa. His highest score of 287 in Test cricket came in the match against South Africa in July 2006. He joined hands with his teammate, Mahela Jayawardene, to build a partnership of 624 runs in the match, creating a world record in both Test and First-class cricket. Kumar Sangakkara is one among the few batsmen who have made more than five double centuries in Test cricket. His back-to-back double centuries against Bangladesh in 2007 have made him the sixth man in the world to achieve this feat, putting him on par with cricketing greats such as Sir Don Bradman and Wally Hammond. Kumar Sangakkara also has to his credit of being the first batsman ever to score more than 150 in an innings in four consecutive Test matches. He has been ranked as the number 1 batsman by the LG International Cricket Council (ICC) Test ratings on December 6, 2007. As of August 11, 2008 he has scored 6356 runs at an average of 54.79 and has taken 153 catches from 76 matches in Test cricket. He has also won nine Man of the Match awards for his match-winning efforts.

Kumar Sangakkara made his first One-Day International (ODI) appearance for Sri Lanka against Pakistan on July 5, 2000. He was a part of the ICC World XI for the Super Series One-Day games in October 2005. He was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that lifted the 2008 Asia Cup. He played a pivotal role for the team during the tournament by contributing three centuries. His brilliant display in ODI cricket has earned him three Man of the Series and twelve Man of the Match awards. Kumar Sangakkara has played in 230 ODI games, securing 6,777 runs at an excellent strike rate of 74.42, his highest score being 138* versus India in 2005. As a wicket-keeper he has taken 210 catches and effected 58 stumping as of August 29, 2008.

Sangakkara has been in the Test World XI, an astonishing 6 times, from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2012. He has also been in the ODI World XI 3 times, from 2011 to 2013. In 2011, apart from being named in both the World XIs, Sangakkara also won the ODI Cricketer of the Year and the LG People's Choice Award. In 2012, Sangakkara won three awards, including the prestigious Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year at the annual ICC awards ceremony in Colombo. Sangakkara also won the People's Choice Award, for the second year running. In 2013, again, Sangakkara was awarded with the ODI Player of the Year award.

Sanath Jayasuriya, a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, was born on June 30, 1969 in Matara. He is an all-rounder, who is a left-handed opening batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Sanath Jayasuriya captained the Sri Lankan team for a span of four years from 1999 to 2003. He was educated at the Servatius College in Matara, where his talents were spotted and nourished by the principal, G.L. Galappathy, and coach, Lionel Wagasinghe. Sanath Jayasuriya is married to Sandra and has three children. 

Sanath Jayasuriya made his Test debut for the Sri Lankan national team in February 1991 against New Zealand in Hamilton and has scored 6,973 runs in 110 matches, at an average of 40.07 in his Test career. His highest Test score of 340 came against India, and he has been the recipient of the Man of the Match award four times. On his last innings before bidding farewell to Test cricket, Sanath Jayasuriya smashed six 4s in an over against England, becoming the third batsman to achieve this feat in Test cricket.





Sanath Jayasuriya made his first One Day International (ODI) appearance for Sri Lanka against Australia on December 26, 1989 in Melbourne. He was made the opening batsman in the 1995-96 tour of Australia and redefined batting at the start of the game with his aggressive style, taking advantage of the early fielding restrictions. His exceptional performance as an all-rounder fetched him the Man of the Tournament award in the 1996 Cricket World Cup, which was won by the Sri Lankan team. His brilliant display in the 2006 Natwest Trophy against England not only won him the Man of the Series award but also helped Sri Lanka win the series 5-0. . Sanath Jayasuriya made his presence felt during the 2007 Cricket World Cup held in the West Indies, making two centuries and an equal number of half-centuries. Sanath Jayasuriya played a crucial role for his team in the 2008 Asia Cup and helped it lift the trophy. He has to his credit the second highest number of ODI centuries (27) and shares the second position (189 runs) with Viv Richards, a former West Indian cricketer, for the world’s highest ODI scores. He holds the world record for the fastest fifty, which was scored off 17 balls and shares the record for the most number of sixes (11) in an ODI innings with Shahid Afridi. Sanath Jayasuriya is the only batsman in the history of cricket to have made four ODI scores above 150 and he also has the record for the fastest 150 in an ODI innings. He has won the second highest number of Man of the Match awards (46) in ODI cricket. He holds the distinction of being the second batsman to score more than 12,000 runs and the first to scalp more than 300 wickets in ODI matches. His explosive style of play at the top of the innings has helped the Sri Lankan team reach great heights in the history of ODI cricket and is considered as one of the greatest ODI players in the cricket world.
